Who is AVOCATS.BE?
AVOCATS.BE (i.e. “attorney” in French) is the organization responsible for representing and defending the interests of all attorneys in the French and German-speaking regions of Belgium (approx. 8,385 attorneys).
Among other things, its purview is to defend the interests of the legal profession and ensure compliance with ethical rules. AVOCATS.BE also plays an important role in access to law and justice for all.
Some of its stated goals include:
- representing the profession as a whole in dealings with public authorities, international organizations, political parties, the media, etc. ;
- defending the interests of the legal profession and its clients by advocating better access to justice;
- establishing professional and ethical regulations for the legal profession;
- and harmonizing the rules and practices of the legal profession.
